How to play bingo in class with your own words
Bingo works in class because everyone is listening at the same time. The trick is making the cards from the words you are actually teaching, not from random numbers.
What you need
A list of words (animals, verbs, places, song titles), a printer and some pens or counters. Nothing to install and no account: the cards are made in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
Step by step
- Paste your words, one per line, or pick a themed pack.
- Choose a 3 × 3 grid for younger children or 5 × 5 for older groups.
- Choose how many cards you need and how many go on each A4 sheet.
- Download the PDF. It includes a caller sheet with the words in the order to read them.
- Hand out the cards, read the words and let the children mark them.
Tips
- Use more words than squares so that each card is different.
- Let a pupil be the caller. They practise reading aloud.
- Play for a line first and then for a full card.
- For a classic number bingo with 1 to 90, use the number caller instead.
